ANNOUNCEMENT - 2008 Ben-Gals Auditions!

Tryouts for the 2008 Ben-Gals cheerleading squad will get underway with a Cheerleader Workshop/Clinic on Saturday, April 12.

The Workshop/Clinic is this Saturday, April 12, from 12:00-5:00 PM. The fee for the clinic is $35.00 The clinic is not mandatory to tryout. Choreographers will be there to work with you and teach current techniques. The clinic is however, recommended and will give you a better perspective on the tryout process. All tryouts and clinics will be held at the Paul Brown Stadium in the gymnasium.

The complete schedule leading up to Finals is as follows:
Clinic: Saturday, April 12
*1st Preliminary: Sunday, April 20
*2nd Preliminary: Sunday, May 4
Semifinals: Sunday, May 11
Finals: Saturday, May 17

* Each candidate is required to try out at either the 1st or 2nd preliminary.

QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates MUST be 21 years of age effective Sept. 1, 2008.
Cheerleaders must live within a 50-mile radius of Cincinnati and be either a full-time student or employed.

REQUIREMENTS
Must be available for practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7-9:30 p.m. and for off-field charity work throughout the season.

After he proposed a friend of his came out of hiding…he had taken some pictures of the whole thing!"

If you go to this web site, www.LetsSayThanks.com you can pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq . You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to some member of the armed services.

How AMAZING it would be if we could get everyone we know to send one!!! This is a great site. Please send a card. It is FREE and it only takes a second. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the soldiers received a bunch of these?

BenGal Alumni, Kimbraly ('03-'05), sends a special request for her Dad and family. Read on...

Hey All!!

I have a quick prayer request. My dad has been fighting cancer for the past seven years. He was first diagnosed with colon cancer. Then one year later it moved to his liver. He was five years out when he was diagnosed with abdominal cancer last November. Now they just found a cancerous tumor on the right side of his abdomen and the left side of his lung. He has been very strong through this with numerous chemo sessions, and I am not ready to lose him yet. I know that sounds selfish, but I don't know what I would do without my dad. I would just like everyone to pray for him, hoping that the cancer will leave his system this time. Also, please pray for my mother and the rest of my family, this is a very hard time for all of us. Thanks!

Hi all!

Well, my sister Tracie has done it once again!!!! She is incredible. I know that God had a serious plan for her when she found out she had breast cancer 7 years ago! For those of you who do not know (and I don't know how you have not heard!), she started a support group for young breast cancer survivors called the Pink Ribbon Girls!!! She has done so much good for the community and she is now being honored by Marvin Lewis!! Tonight we are headed down to Football 101- a fun night of "learning" about football with Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis. Every year HE hand picks who he wants to award with the "pink football". Guess who is winning it this year?! TRACIE!!! What an honor it is to be her sister and a friend! Here is the link where you can read all about it. Be sure to check back sometime after tonight. I know they will update the photo and it will be her and Marvin Lewis!!!

EVENT - Ballroom/Latin Dance Class at Cincy Dance Studio

Our studio will be offering a Ballroom / Latin Dance Class for Adult Individuals and Couples this fall on Friday evenings. The instructor, Mandy Franceschina, has a substantial background in all forms of Latin and Ballroom Dance, and is also a competitive dancer in those dance forms. Beyond that, Mandy has an amazing knack for making the classes FUN! This class would be a great way to kick off your weekend!

CLASS DETAILS:
DATE / TIME: Fridays from 7:00 to 8:00 PM. The classes will begin in October (exact start date to be determined).
FEE: $60 per person, per 6 week session. The first 6 weeks will focus on Ballroom dances; the second will focus on Latin dances.
No partner necessary!

Join the Cincinnati Bengals and Hoxworth Blood Center to "score one" for the patients in local hospitals by donating at the 6th Annual Bengals Community Blood Drive at Paul Brown Stadium presented by Champion Windows and LOCAL12 WKRC-TV.

"...just wanted to update you and let you know that we have moved to Atlanta (and loving it!!! Wow!!! What a difference a city can make!!! :) I will be starting as a Director level patent counsel at The Coca-Cola Company on October 1st. Dennis is continuing with State Farm. It's a great opportunity for both of us. We are still holding onto our season tickets though so we will still be at a few games, particularly those around the holidays (Thanksgiving and Christmas). So, I just wanted to let you know our exciting news and hopefully, there will be an alumni event around the holidays so that I can reunite with everyone."

Hi everyone!

Our first day of class is quickly approaching! Many of the classes are filling up, and a couple are already at capacity, so remember to register quickly for the class of your choice. The Registration Deadline is September 17th, and Classes Begin on September 24th. Just a few updates on our studio & classes…

NEW CLASS! ADULT / TEEN TAP
We have just added an Adult / Teen Tap class on Saturdays from 11:00 to 11:50 AM. Cost: $130.00 per semester.
(This addition hasn’t been noted on our website yet, but will be shortly.)

TIME CHANGE – BOYS ONLY CLASS
The Boys Only class will now be on Saturdays from 9:00 to 9:50 AM.
(This change hasn’t been noted on our website yet, but will be shortly.)

NEW LOBBY!
We now have a larger, much more comfortable lobby in the back of our facility! It offers more seating, a live broadcast of each class (great for parents and guests who want to watch the stars in action!), a large table for snacks and homework, and a play area for the youngsters. Enjoy!

Note: Our entrance is now at the side of the building, adjacent to the parking lot.

Hello friends!

In 1991, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease, a type of blood cancer located in the body’s lymph node system. From the end of my 8th grade year throughout my freshmen year in high school, I underwent chemotherapy and radiation treatments. In April 1992, I went in remission and have not had a re occurrence.

I feel grateful to be a survivor and I am looking for ways to help out others who were or may be in my situation in the future.

On September 29th, 2007, I, along with the Mount Notre Dame High School Dance teams, will be participating in the Light the Night Walk at Lakota West High School. This walk is to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

If you could help me raise money for this walk, I would be extremely appreciative. Former BenGal Selected as Indiana Pacemate

Congratulations to former BenGal and ProBowl representative, Seazun, for being selected as a member of the 2007-2008 Indiana Pacemates!

Seazun is pictured in the top row on the far right.

This marks Seazun's third sports team as a professional dancer! A "triple threat" or a "three-peat" as some would say in the biz! Seazun cheered for the NFL Cincinnati Bengals and the NFL Indianapolis Colts. This will be her first time cheering for an NBA team. Congratulations, Seazun, and Good Luck!

Allison's squad is the 1st MLB Cheerleading squad to be invited to visit a US Military base! Way to support our troops, ladies! Maggie and I had the most amazing weekend out in Washington visiting the troops! The second we got off the plane, we headed to McChord Air Force Base. Colonel Yaktus greeted us and took us to a reception being held for the men and women being promoted. We talked to some wonderful people, who were all very excited about their promotions. We talked to one soldier who was getting ready to deploy in a few days, and we wish him all the best! The Colonel got us clearance to go out on the actual airfield and visit with soldiers on board a C-17 plane headed to Turkey to deliver supplies. The plane was HUGE, but both Maggie and I questioned the men as to where they sleep (it is a 14 hour flight). They told us they bring out sleeping bags and sleep on the ground! The most exciting part of this base visit was when I got to marshal out the plane as it headed for Turkey! I put on the orange vest and grabbed my orange batons, and with the help of an Air Force soldier named Matthew, I successfully got the plane moving! It was incredible to have that experience, and I hope the soldiers flying the plane enjoyed it as much as I did! Read More...

ALUMNI PERSPECTIVE - What it means to be a BenGal

Hello Daphne,

Last night was a lot of fun. Thank you for putting it together. We need to keep up this tradition every year and invite more girls each time. There are hundreds of girls from years past. It is great to see my Ben-Gal friends any time and we have so much fun together. There is a group of us that have remained friends since we all left the field the same year in January of 1993. We were in each others weddings, were pregnant at the same time and now our kids play together. It is always nice to see and meet the new girls too and good they can see what a lifelong bond they are forming.

Being a Ben-Gal was hard work and you have to be an athlete as well as have beauty and poise out in public. It’s not as easy as people think right? It is fun and exhilarating and very, very hard at the same time. (Hot sunny days are especially hard to dance in with not much water or breaks!) This is something you carry with you forever though as you were able to see from some of the alumni there last night in their early to late forties. All the girls still got it! The new girls were all very pretty and seem like they are just getting their feet wet. You could tell some of them seemed hesitant to open up but that comes with time.

Thanks again for putting it together last night and we did have a great time. It forced us moms to get out!

Hi all! In case you haven't heard, it's a ............BOY!!! We are so proud to announce "Graham Eliot Davis" as the newest member of our family. He was born on Tuesday, June 12 at 2:09 pm. He weighed 7 lbs 2 oz. and was 19 1/2" long! AND, he has a FULL head of BLONDE HAIR!!!!

Olivia, Gabe and Eve are on cloud nine to say the least. I think Gabe is especially happy to have a little brother. Olivia is naturally a second mother and Eve keeps thinking he is Cooper- Emily's baby who is 4 weeks old!

The final audition round for the 2007 Cincinnati Ben-Gal Cheerleaders was completed on Sunday, May 20th. For US Postal workers all over the Tri-State, the next few days can be intense as they deliver letters carrying the exciting news of the 2007 squad list to this year's audition hopefuls! Below is an excerpt from a recent email from Alumni, Maria. Maria was recently selected as a new member of the Minnesota Vikings Cheerleaders. Her new life just keeps getting better and better! Read on...

Hello everyone!!! I have so much to tell you!!! Last night...Derek asked me to marry him!!! I know...I know it seems so soon. My first year with the Bengals I cheered with a girl by the name of Ann. Some of you know her. We were talking about boys and love and all that good stuff and she told me that when I find that person...I will know. That is how I feel about Derek!! I know he is the one!!!! Some of you know that all I ever wanted was to move to New York and model. Now I can't even think about what life would be without Derek. My life has changed so much in the past 3 months and I couldn't be any happier! So that being said...I will keep you updated on the wedding plans. We want to get married in Cincinnati...but I'm sure it will be a while away. I hope everyone is doing well and hope to hear from you soon!!

Juli (Beattie) Livingston of Juli Beattie Dance Studio is hosting a Salsa/Latin Dance Workshop and Party this weekend!

This workshop will take you through all of the dances that you will need to enjoy a Latin night out on the town. You will learn the basics of the Bachata, Merengue, and Salsa, learn to interact with our partners through lead and follow, and begin to spice up the dances with our own style! In honor of this year's BenGal auditions currently in process, we asked the Alumni to send in to the blog their "Favorite Tryout Memory"

Here is a memory from Hazel (2001-2004) to get us started!

"One of my favorite tryout memories was of the year that I made the squad. I practiced, practiced and when the final day of tryouts came around I felt more confident than any of the 3 previous years that I had tried out. I completed the routine and as I stood up, I looked over at Director Charlotte, Traci and Sharon and they gave me the thumbs up! My friend and teammate, Nikki, who gave dance instruction to me and other hopeful Ben-Gals, was jumping up and down in excitement! I almost started to cry because it felt so different that day. I just had a wonderful feeling that I finally accomplished my goal of becoming a member of the most talented and beautiful squad in the NFL - The Cincinnati Ben-Gal Cheerleaders."

Hello Cincinnati Ben Gals from 1996 and 1997 Seasons,

I hope you all are doing well! I am e-mailing the blog to request prayers! I have been through a whirlwind of events and am asking for prayers for myself and my husband to get through this situation!

My name is Angi Lampkin (1996 and 1997 Season) and here it goes...

1. December 27, 2006- My husband was diagnosed with Viral Cardiomyopathy which led into Congestive Heart Failure
2. January 2007- Hospitalized due to complications of his condition
3. February 2007- Same as above
4. March 2007- Husband had a minor stroke and a pacemaker/defibrillator implanted
5. April 10th- Husband was put on the Heart Transplant LIST
6. April 14th- MY HUSBAND HAS A NEW B-DAY AND A NEW HEART

Yeah , I know , an amazing story. And this all happened to a man that is only 37 years old. So I am requesting prayers from my old cheering buddies because prayers do wonders. My husband is doing amazingly well considering, but prayers can always help!!

Hello!!!! Wow...well a lot has happened over the past week. I wanted to send you an email to let you know about everything that has been going on!! Well I never got my passport to go on the overseas tour with the Bengals....but I really believe that everything happens for a reason.

I moved up here to Minnesota on Friday and let me tell you...that was an adventure. Almost everything I own was packed in to my little Toyota. I couldn't see anything out of my passenger side window and I could only see a little bit out of my back window, but I had all my good CD's and a few Redbulls....so I was ready. 11 hours and a lot of rain later I made it to Minnesota.

I am staying with on of the Vikings cheerleaders until my boyfriend and I get our apt. She is so nice. I had my first try out on Saturday and GUESS WHAT??? I made the first cut!!! It was really hard and it was really different from the Bengals but I did it! Today I went to the interview part and it went really well! So now I go on to the training camp part of the tryout. I go Thursday of this week and then every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday until April 24th. On April 24th, I will perform at the Mall of America. That will be our final try out!! So wish me luck!

Also, in a few days you will be able to go to the Viking website (www.vikings.com) where you can vote for who you want to be on the team!! So if you could help me out and vote....that would be great!!!

I am still looking for a job. I am working really hard to find one and have talked to a lot of people. I can't wait to start working. I never thought I would say that...but I don't know what to do with myself and it has only been two days. I will keep you updated on the try outs and everything. I hope everyone is doing well and I really miss home!! Talk to you soon!!!

EVENT - BenGals Show Team Kicks Off Overseas Tour

Assistant Director, Mary Daniels, shares with the blog exciting news about an overseas tour!

The BenGals have been asked to go on an overseas 10-day tour to perform for our military troops. Eight current cheerleaders will be performing in Spain, Italy, Egypt and Greece. The tour kicks off March 19th. The ladies will be accompanied by two coaches - Director, Charlotte Jacobs and Asst. Director, Mary Daniels.

On behalf of the Cincinnati BenGal Cheerleader Alumni, we'd like to wish the members of the Show Team a safe and successful tour overseas in support of our US troops stationed abroad!

CASTING CALL - Mother/Daughter Pageant

NOW CASTING MOTHERS AND THEIR DAUGHTERS TO COMPETE AS A TEAM IN AN EXCITING NEW BEAUTY PAGEANT!

The production crew of the CW Network is currently on a nation wide search for mothers and their grown up daughters (MUST BE AT LEAST 18!) to compete together as a team in a one-of-a-kind beauty pageant on The CW Network.

Ben-Gals Announce 2007 Audition Dates!

Ben-Gal Cheerleader Audition dates have been announced on the Bengals web site!

You have 8 weeks between now and the clinic to get ready! Mark your calendars using the dates below!

Tryouts for the 2007 Ben-Gals cheerleading squad will get underway with a Cheerleader workshop/clinic on Saturday, April 14.

The remaining schedule leading up to Finals is as follows:
Preliminaries: Saturday, April 21
Preliminaries: Sunday, April 22
Semifinals: Saturday, May 5
Finals: Sunday, May 20

QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates MUST be 21 years of age effective Sept. 1, 2007. Cheerleaders must live within a 50-mile radius of Cincinnati and be either a full-time student or employed.

REQUIREMENTS
Must be available for practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7-9:30 p.m. and for off-field charity work throughout the season.

REQUEST FOR APPLICATION
If you meet the qualifications above and would like to receive an application for 2007 Ben-Gals auditions, please complete and submit the registration information posted on the Cincinnati Bengals web site.

Ben-Gals Announce Upcoming USO Tour

Mary Daniels, Assistant Director of the BenGal Cheerleaders, shares with the blog exciting news about an upcoming USO Tour for some of the current squad members.

"The Ben-Gals have been asked to go on an overseas 10-day tour to perform for our military troops. Eight current cheerleaders and two coaches (Charlotte and myself) will be attending. The ladies will be performing in Spain, Italy, Egypt and Greece. They will leave next month in March 2007."

Stay Tuned...Reds Crew Dancer Auditions Airing on TV!

Allison Leonard, Director of the MDX Reds Crew Dance Team, has selected 17 new dance team members for the upcoming Reds baseball season!

Final auditions were held last weekend and Fox19 was on hand to video the event!

Portions of the final audition process, including an interview with Allison and footage of the dancers showing off their skills, will be aired on Fox19 on Sunday night (2/18) - 10 O'Clock news and again on the Monday (2/19) Morning show.

Practices begin for the new squad next week and new pics for the blog will be coming soon!

Don't forget to watch or set your DVR!

HELP WANTED - Spartans Cheerleader Coaches

Spartan Cheerleading squads are currently interviewing fresh and enthusiastic people to be a positive role model and influence to our 5 cheer squads for the 2007 season and beyond.

Qualifications we are looking for:
Experienced (ie. Coached cheer before, currently or past cheerleader +gymnastics experience, dance experience.)
Dedicated to spending 1 week in May for Coaches clinic and 1 week in July for Cheer camp
Tuesday and Thursday night practices from 6pm-8pm.
You will also be choreographing the cheer and chant portion for competition!We will have "professional" choreographers this year for builds, tumbling,dance & music!
Games are Saturdays or Sundays and a 1 full day at competition.
Of course, additional time may be required.

We anticipate an Excellent year for 2007 that represents SPIRIT, TEAM, PRIDE!!! Thank you for your time and interest in Spartan Cheerleading and your help in making a very positive difference in the lives of many girls!

EVENT - Fitness Competition - April 27-29

Fitness Competitor and Former Ben-Gal, Tina Rigdon, is hosting "The Tina Rigdon FAME Classic" to be held in Maysville, KY on April 27, 28 and 29th.

The event will be backed by the World Natural Sports Organization (WNSO) and various Fitness Magazines. There are a variety of events including Muscle, Fitness, Figure and Model Competitions.

Prior to the competition, Tina will be hosting Fitness Camps on February 24th and also on March 24th to help prepare for competition. BONUS - to attend camp, you do not need to be competition ready!

Alumni on FSN television show - Ms. Fitness USA 2007!

Appearing on Ms. Fitness USA 2007 and representing Cincinnati, Ohio is Ben-Gal Alumni, Amy Campbell ('00-'03)!

FSN (Fox Sports Network) recently released the television dates for the airing of the show. Last Saturday, FSN Ohio aired the show for the first time.

Amy competed in the event last September in Las Vegas, Nevada where the competition was taped. At the time of the airing, Amy and other competitors did not know who would appear on the show. To watch the show, check your local cable network listings for channels and times.

TRY OUT FOR THE REDS CREW CHEER/DANCE SQUAD!

The Reds are looking for energetic and enthusiastic
individuals to comprise the 2007 MDX Reds Crew. If you
have a passion for performing and entertaining, as well as a
love for Reds baseball, please plan to attend the preliminary
screening and tryout on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007.

SCREENING AND TRYOUT PROCESS:

Team members earn $50 per game with opportunities to earn additional income through outside appearances asdirected by the Reds. In addition to providing choreographed dance routinesat games, team members will be responsible for greeting fans attending Redshome games, visiting suite guests as directed by the Reds, working with theReds mascots and the Reds Rally Pack on other entertainment and promotionalactivities throughout the game, and other activities as directed by theReds. Team members must be at least 21 years of age by April 1, 2007.Team members will be independently contracted for their participationon the Reds Crew.

Birth Announcement

Keri ('01) announces that she is expecting a baby Boy! Congratulations, Keri!

"Hey everyone! Just wanted to let you all know we had our ultrasound today and it's a boy! I would also like to request prayer as we will be getting a level II ultrasound next Tuesday on the baby's heart. There is a tiny spot on the heart that they want to take a closer look into. My doctor has told me pretty confidently that it is nothing and my other blood tests have come back normal. So just pray that the ultrasound will show a healthy heart and baby! The doctor told us not to worry, but she knows we will and we are, but that's just part of being a parent!!! We'll keep you posted! Keri, Justin and Big Bro Ty!"
